The CENFROCAFE cooperative was founded in 1999 and grown to represent 1,900 coffee producers in Northern Peru. The co-op became fair-trade certified in 2007 and 25 percent of their social premiums are dedicated to improving production and protecting the environment. The rest of the premium has been invested in building organizational capacity, infrastructure projects, and health projects.
