The Asociacion Chajulense is composed of 2,000 Mayan small farmers who cultivate land in the mountains of the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes. The agricultural production of the co-op is 100 percent organic, upholding the Mayan value to “work the land without violence.”
The cooperative is committed to promoting women’s participation at all levels of production and has played an important role in providing social empowerment and economic opportunities to indigenous women.
